Vernon Parish Early Childhood Community Network

Vernon Parish is dedicated to providing a high-quality curriculum that is rigorous, relevant, and aligned with Louisiana Standards. Our goal is to ensure effective instruction in every classroom, facilitating meaningful learning. The Louisiana Standards are implemented across all grade levels in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Educators engage in continuous professional development focused on research-based instructional best practices.
Our motto, “Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes,” emphasizes placing the student at the center of the educational process. This journey begins with our early childhood programs, Head Start and LA-4, which offer developmentally appropriate learning activities in an environment designed to foster social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and creative growth.
As students advance through elementary grades, instruction prioritizes literacy and numeracy across the curriculum. Students learn to think critically and apply their skills in all content areas at every grade level. In middle and high school, additional opportunities are available through programs for gifted, honors, Advanced Placement, dual enrollment, and Jump Start.
Beyond the core curriculum, Vernon Parish schools provide a variety of electives, enrichment programs, and extracurricular activities. The needs of exceptional children are addressed in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines. These innovative programs are designed to prepare our graduates for continued education or entry into the workforce.
